Ok, I posted a few days ago about my first visit with my endo, which I have just returned from.
Was very interesting. He’s referring to me as a type 1.5, or someone who is type 1, only developing it later in life. Which, since my mom was there, we were able to figure out was pretty much what happened with my father. Add on to that my brother, who was diagnosed as tyoe 1 at age 10… Doc thinks that’s fairly rare. Seems most families with a type 1 are more inclined to have children with type 2 than type 1. Which I never knew. (If we wanted to go further back, my paternal grandfather also had the same thing.)
It’s good to know this, since I thought that somehow I was doing something wrong when the metformin wasn’t doing much to help my sugar out.
Anyway, they’re running all my blood work, so hopefully good news will come in the mail soon. Since my sugar is actually behaving, I’m hoping my a1c is down as well now.
And I must admit that I’m amused that I seemed to have picked up an eye doctor and a podiatrist as part of the deal.
