Team Type 1 began in 2005 with the belief that anything is possible. But many of the 24 million Americans living with diabetes have been told the opposite their entire lives. Each member of Team Type 1, however, is convinced this is wrong.

When Joe Eldridge and Phil Southerland started Team Type 1, they wanted to inspire people living with diabetes to achieve their dreams. Joe and Phil's dream was to do this mile by mile on their bicycles. As athletes with Type 1 diabetes, they wanted to be living proof that anything is possible.

But along the way, Joe and Phil needed to dispel a few myths people had about diabetes.
